A 34-year-old North Naples man is in jail after Collier County detectives said he sent sexually explicit Facebook messages to a teenage girl.
Christopher P. Gray, of the 2000 block of Tarpon Bay Drive, faces two obscenity charges: use of a computer to seduce a child, and traveling to meet after using a computer to lure a child.
After becoming online friends with the girl, Gray exchanged messages with her, saying he was thinking of moving closer to her, which would “be tempting,” according to an arrest report. He added that her age was a “small issue to overcome” and said once she engaged in intercourse with him “you won’t care about age,” the report said.
A detective assumed the girl’s identity after the teenager’s mother contacted the Sheriff’s Office on April 18. Posing as the girl, the detective continued to exchange messages with Gray, who expressed his desire to have sex with the teenager, according to reports.
Thinking he was talking with the girl, Gray agreed to meet up with the detective in a Naples Boulevard parking lot on Tuesday, the report said. He was met by authorities and arrested around 11:15 a.m.
